Created to Create
by Emily Dean
(Jeremiah 1:5, KJV).
Sometimes it’s hard to write.
A blank page stares at me, waiting to be filled. The cursor blinks and blinks until creativity begins to flow. Questions bombard my mind and confound my writing.
Why keep writing? Why share my words with the world when other people can express thoughts more concisely? What purpose does my writing serve? I only create a mess of words, anyway.
Listening to doubt comes more easily than hearing the story crafting itself in the back of my mind.
When life gets hard and the strength to write eludes me, I remember what God told Jeremiah. Before Jeremiah’s birth, God ordained him to be a prophet. Before my birth, God knew my entire life story. He knows every hair on my head and every aspect of my personality better than I know myself. He created me as a writer before your parents even knew of my existence.
Whether writing serves as a hobby, ministry, or job, it composes part of us.
God created you to write. He gave you the gift of words so that you can use them to bring glory to him and draw others to the Savior. When your life seems to have no value, remember your life has value because God loves you.
As Jeremiah questioned his life’s purpose you may do the same. Remember that God loves you, has shaped your identity, and will guide your service. The Holy Spirit provides the words, so just keep writing.
God created you to create. So, go on. Open your computer and write.
Thank you, Lord, for creating me to fulfil a greater purpose. Strengthen me to persevere and write to the best of my abilities. Amen.
