Supernatural Victory in Your Hand
by Tina Yeager
(Joshua 8:18, NIV).
Alien entities invaded my home this month. Dozens of sixty-legged critters wormed their way inside to cover the floors and climb the walls. I waited weeks for the millipedes to retreat, but the takeover persisted. Everywhere I turned, I faced their creeping imposition.
My passive approach failed. I needed a deliberate and confident strategy to resist this enemy. Instead of shrinking back, I assembled weapons. I had a contracted pest control service plus the advantage of greater strength. Standing in my authority, I applied all the resources to declare victory over my property.
Dark trends also creep in to wage sinister attacks upon us as divine message-bearers. Opposition comes from the culture’s anti-Christian values, financial strain, and more. A.I. now threatens to crush our position as writers and the publishing industry has withdrawn in retreat. We might react with shock, complaint, or hopeless fear in helpless response, passive victims with thresholds open to the invading darkness.
Christian writers stand on an intimidating battlefield, much like Joshua faced when attacked by Ai. We could succumb to defeat by focusing on the swarms of evil. Instead, we can claim our anointing and our advantages of contract and potency. Our covenant grants us truth’s light to exterminate every skittering hint of darkness. The Holy Spirit, representing the ultimate power and authority, dwells within us. God who called us as messengers has put a supernatural javelin in our hands and equipped us for victory. We must decide whether or not to persist as we hold out our gifts in faith.
Our Ai-like, unbelieving culture may oppose my position. Indirect sabotage such as A.I.’s threats might threaten my mission. Yet I can face all attacks with confidence if I trust the Lord’s promises. He can strengthen me to obey his call even when I don’t understand its impact. I’ll hold out my writing instruments as a javelin over this warzone, even if my weapon seems to remain still. My faithful King will hold my position firm on the field where he has set my calling. So I declare triumph in advance over every wormy invader.
Savior, thank you for anointing me with your gifts and covering my calling with your promises. I praise you in advance for the triumphs you will accomplish to serve your purpose and bring honor to your name. Please continue to strengthen my faith and hold me steadfast in my commitment to obey your call. Amen.

Thank you for this powerful post. I have to be honest, I believe my heart would fail me if I had an infestation of millipedes. Still trying to grow in bravery!
Maureen, I’m so grateful I can count on Jesus for courage to face all those horrors we encounter–including millipedes! Thanks for reading!
Thank you for this brave reminder that we have God’s weapons at our disposal when battling the enemy. I especially liked the reference to Joshua’s encounter with Ai and our encounters with our own AI.
God bless you!
I’m so glad you enjoyed the devo, Janet! I thought the similarity in the names of Ai and A.I. seemed to offer an opportunity to face our current fears the way the Lord inspired his ancient warriors to stand against theirs. Thanks for reading!
Thank you for a beautiful analogy. The Lord is constantly reminding me that we have messages He wants broadcasted, and we, like Joshua, are called to step up and take the ground God has offered.
I’m so glad you felt inspired to take the ground God has set before you and share the messages He placed on your heart! Thanks for reading!
Well stated. Loved your comparrisons.
Thanks, Mike! I’m so glad you enjoyed the devo!
