On the Way to Publication
by Tina Yeager
(Matthew 28:8-10, NIV).
Rain blurs the view of our front yard maple. The limbs that waved their leaves high in praise of yesterday’s sunshine now sigh under today’s deluge. Yet each drop striking her today will brighten the colors she shares when autumn crowns her. Glimpses of gold hint at the coming season, even in the midst of this storm.
I once raised my hands in eager praise like the maple. I leaped in response to my initial call as a writer and sprinted toward publication. Years of stormy setbacks wore my limbs down and proved the destination further than I thought. Disappointments pelted me and motivation sagged under the weight of my wait.
In each step on my way to obey his commission, Jesus met me with the words I needed. His gilded promises inspired me to continue. Christ reassures me on my way from tombs to triumph.
He will use every tear, sweat drop, and disappointing mud speck to enrich my messages. He washes away my insecurity and renews my strength to persevere.
I choose to rejoice and sprint toward his calling, no matter the cloudy shadows. I cannot yet see my destination, but trust in a new season ahead. I praise my faithful Lord who meets me with the power I need on the way.
Lord, thank you for calling me to share your message. I praise you for remaining with me on the journey. You relieve me of fear and equip me with your Spirit. I remain ever grateful for your faithfulness and grace. Amen.
